Weekly Bulletin w/c 5th May 2014

Our house in West Rainton (4 beds, 3 bathrooms, 3 reception) will be available to rent from mid October 14 to mid March 15, as we will be away in Australia . We will seek a low rent and wondered if there is a facility for bringing this to the attention of members of the SCR. Please contact: [email protected]

This term the SCR are arranging a trip to see The English Touring Opera’s production of King Priam (Tippett) which is being performed at the Gala Theatre in Durham. The performance is on Tuesday 20th May starting at 7.30pm and the ticket price is £22. Please see below for further information on the performance.

Michael Tippett’s magnificent opera is a gripping dramatisation of the fall of Troy as epic as it is powerful. The Olivier Award- winning opera is based on Homer’s Iliad, and focuses on the moral choices of human characters caught up in a world of gods and goddesses, in a stirring account of decisions and their importance at a time of war. Brilliant, insightful and musically gripping, King Priam is British opera at its best. Director James Conway, Conductor Michael Rosewell. Sung in English.

If you would like to attend please RSVP to [email protected] by Sunday 18th May.
