The Antarctic: Talk and Supper Thursday Feb 23rd 2023

Dear SCR Members,

You are cordially invited to the next SCR talk and supper, to take place on Feb 23rd at 6.30 p.m. in the Ustinov Room and afterwards in the Lakeside Room. The title of the talk by our speaker, Professor Pippa Whitehouse, is:

“Durham research in Antarctica: from the depths of the ice sheet to outer space (and most things in between).”

Durham researchers have been investigating the secrets of Antarctica, from the depths of the ocean to the top of the atmosphere, exploring the hidden depths beneath the ice and the meltwater ponds that have been expanding across its surface. Drawing on Durham expertise in studying the rocks, the ice, and the stuff that lives there, I will take you on a tour of Durham-led research that is rapidly expanding our understanding of this mysterious continent.

Dress code is smart-casual.
