Sunday 31st January: SCR Walking Club.
An ascent of the ‘Yorkshire Matterhorn’; plus a reminder or two of the great navigator and explorer Captain Cook – just some of the delights of this classic 7 mile circular walk through dappled woodlands and across heather moorland. We will encounter two iconic North York Moors landmarks en route – Roseberry Topping and Cook’s Monument, so take your camera and fingers crossed for a clear day! Vicky Brown will be guiding the walk. We shall finish the walk with a well deserved late lunch at the Royal Oak in Great Ayton!
We will meet at Van Mildert College Reception at 9.00am to set off in the College Minibus for the adventure! If you are making your own way there please meet us at 10.00am on Great Ayton High Street. Tuesday 2nd February: Saltmine’s Theatre Company presents “Darkness Falls”.
Darkness Falls is the remarkable re-imagining of the Gospel of John, performed by the acclaimed Saltmine Theatre Company. Described as moving, funny, poetic and fantastical, the play mixes vivid storytelling with beautiful live music to bring you a timeless story as you’ve never seen it before. Durham Christian Union are pleased to team up with Saltmine to host this play on Tuesday 2nd Feburary and warmly invite everyone to come and watch. The evening with include performances from Van Mildert College students accompanied by wine and nibbles!
