Thursday 11th FebruaryEuropean Question Time Event with MEPs.
Durham City Council in conjunction with Durham University International Office will be holding a European Question Time Event chaired by Dr Christian Schweiger from SGIA on Thursday 11th February in the Calman Learning Centre (6:30pm). It is open to staff and students to learn about the Erasmus+ programme and put questions to Jonathan Arnott MEP (UK Independence Party) and Jude Kirton Darling MEP (Labour Party). Topics include:
· What does an MEP do?
· The EU, what is in it for students?
· How does the European Parliament work and is the EU worth the money it costs in terms of our contribution?
· The case for and against EU membership.
Refreshments will be served afterwards.

Tuesday 1st March: SCR A Taste of Japan Evening.
The evening comprises of a private tour viewing the Japanese collections at the Oriental Museum followed by a drinks reception, finishing with a three course Japanese style dinner in the Lakeside Room at Van Mildert College. To reserve a place please RSVP to [email protected] by Monday 22nd February with any allergen and specific dietary requirements along with wine orders. Dress Code – Lounge Suit. Guests are welcome!

Tuesday 8th March: International Women’s Day.
The IWD website is now live. Please, note the “Creative Women at Work: Nominating our Women” box. Broadly speaking nominations can be for anything new and inventive which has had a positive impact on you, or your colleagues or the world outside, no matter how big or small. The nominations will be posted up on the website in the week leading up to IWD2016 and all nominated women will be invited to a special event. The nomination form can be found here and the deadline for nominations is the 15 February.
