On Wednesday 9 March 2016 at 6.00pm in the Presentation Room (Old Shop) at Josephine Butler College, crime fiction author and journalist John Connolly will give a Butler Talk called ‘It’s a Writer’s Life—On Writing and Getting Published.’ In this short and entertaining talk, John will talk about the ups and downs of being a writer and the trials and tribulations of getting published. John is bringing every member of the audience a free gift! There will be a drinks reception from 5.30pm in the Presentation Room. Email [email protected] to register interest. Free & open to the public. John’s first novel, Every Dead Thing (L.A. Times Book of the Year), was published in 1999, and introduced the character of Charlie Parker, a former policemen hunting the killer of his wife and daughter. The 14th Parker novel, A Time of Torment, will be released this April to much anticipation (Irish Times, Book to Watch Out For, 2016). John has also published other stand-alone books including Bad Men in 2003 and two collections of short stories, most recently Night Music: Nocturnes Volume 2 (2015).
