This year, the JCR will be attempting to learn Mamma Mia before performing it at 8:00pm on Tuesday 14th. There will be a pre-show reception for members and guests starting at 7:30pm in the Prowse Room. If you intend to come, please contact [email protected] so seats can be reserved.

“The Bikini Line” – Blast-Off! All Invited!
Venue: Terrace and Cafe, Durham University Botanic Garden
Time: 6.30pm gather for 7.00pm start (ends 8.30pm)
The theme is 1946 for this convivial gathering to celebrate the launch of an exciting sound-and-vision art installation designed by Josephine Butler College artist-in-residence Alan O’Cain. Alan has collaborated with sound artist Neil Crimes, the Arts Development Group at Josephine Butler College, students from St. Cuthbert’s Society and staff at the Botanic Garden to create this thought-provoking outdoor work marking the 70th anniversary of both the first Atomic Bomb Test at Bikini Atoll and the naming of the iconic item of swimwear. This free special launch event in the beautiful Botanic Garden will feature a short introductory talk by the artists, a short sketch from the student drama groups, a brief poetry-reading, musical entertainment from members of the St. Cuthbert’s Society Big Band and a drink with light refreshments. 1940s dress optional! Bikini-Making Workshop: The installation will feature 167 hand-made bikinis. If you want to help make or paint these bikinis, there will be a special bikini-making session from 2pm until 5pm on Tuesday 14 June in the Botanic Garden.
