Subjectivity of a Researcher: Encountering ethics in a participatory research on Human Trafficking.

I am a third year PhD Candidate in Human Geography Department at Durham University. Drawing upon a recently completed Participatory Action Research in a post-disaster trafficking prone area of the global South, in this presentation, I will reflect on several politically and ethically charged encounters which shaped my subjectivity.

Geographies of Concussion

In professional rugby union concussion has remained the most frequent injury for 8 years, with the severity increasing during in the 2017/18 season. Yet, under reporting of concussions is still somewhere in the region of 50%, so we could still expect the concussion rate to increase further. Understandings of concussions are still limited across rugby union literature. Differences in travelling away from home is still yet to be researched in depth. Anecdotes would suggest a link, so Geographies of Concussion aims to bring geographical research techniques and understandings to investigate whether there is a difference in travelling away from home. As well as understanding any difference, Geographies of Concussion has a pilot study to try and mitigate the effects of travelling, especially any link to concussions.
