On Monday 25 November, Van Mildert College Choir along with the Choirs of Grey, Trevelyan and Collingwood Colleges will be singing Evensong in Durham Cathedral. The service will take place at 5.15 pm and we very much hope that SCR members will be able to join us.
Further to this, we would be delighted to see SCR members join the College Choir for this service. There will be three rehearsals in the week before the Evensong as below and you would be very welcome to join us! The rehearsals are open to enthusiastic singers of all abilities and there is some fantastic music planned including Dyson’s Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in D, responses by Smith of Durham, and a fantastic anthem, Christ is our cornerstone, by Noel Rawsthorne. I have included YouTube links at the bottom of this email to each of the pieces.
Rehearsal schedule
- Tuesday 19 November, 7.30 – 9.30 pm in the Ann Dobson Hall, Van Mildert College
- Thursday 21 November, 8 – 10 pm in Fountains Hall, Grey College
- Sunday 24 November, 6 – 8 pm in the Ustinov Room, Van Mildert College
There will also be a rehearsal on Monday 25 November immediately before the service at 4 pm. We ask that singers attend at least two of the three rehearsals shown above in addition to the rehearsal on the day of the service. Copies of music will be provided, along with folders and gowns for those who require them.
