David Harper: What is on top of Everest? An odyssey to the roof of the world.

Monday 14 June, 4 pm

(Last chance to hear from Professor Harper prior to his retirement as College Principal.)

Ever wondered what one would find at the top of the Everest Range in the Himalayas? Or who the spectacular mountainous landscapes of Tibet are home to?

A familiar face to many Mildertians, please join us in proudly welcoming Professor David Harper, Principal of Van Mildert College, Professor of Palaeontology, and Chair of the International Commission for Stratigraphy for an exciting evening that will not be one to miss!

With his exciting geological fieldwork taking him to magnificent wonders dotted around the globe, Dave will be sharing with us his personal journey of discovery shared with a multinational team of scientists. Prepare to hear exciting anecdotes about his many expeditions, including travelling to the Everest Range in the Himalayas to establish the precise age of the highest rocks on Earth and where these rocks originated, and how the breathtaking landscapes of Tibet are home to a unique culture, spectacular temples and a distinctive way of life. A celebration of both culture and geology, this event will be a treat for all!

If you are interested in this event, please fill in the sign-up form. A Zoom link will be sent to your email prior to the event.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email [email protected].
